Root River Lures News

This is Wayne’s article for the December newsletter – which was accidently not updated (Sorry, Wayne!). Here is what he really had to say:

For the avid fisherman (or women): Lures in an ornament

This is a tough time of the year for people who love to fish.  Open water
fishing can be tough and waiting for the ice to form is even tougher!  It
is a perfect time to clean out and re-arrange tackle boxes.  Replacing
lost or broken lures.  For the ice fishing folks, if you are like me you
have already arranged all of your ice fishing equipment and looked through
your ice fishing tackle boxes.  Now we just need ice!!

If you are thinking of a gift over the holidays for that person that loves
fishing, please keep Lanesboro Local in mind.  The Root River Lures
display is fully stocked for the holidays.  For the ice fishing enthusiast
we carry the “Green Hornet”.  It is a replica of the ice fishing pole that
was used in the movie “Grumpy Old Men”.  The pole is fully functional, but
it also displays very nicely.  There are four of us friends who have ice
fished for the last 20+ years.  As the years have gone by the fish stories
all tend to mingle.  We have used one of the “Green Hornet” poles to
document every trip we have taken and how many fish were caught.  It is
now our traveling trophy.  The winner is voted on at the end of our annual
ice fishing trip.  We call the award the “dumb duck” award, so you know
what helps determine the winner!
